What an amazing month!
Not only have we enjoyed our weekly practise evenings we have been on our community retreat, had a fundraiser for Sooz and finally the TES quarterly team meeting of which exciting news follows.
TES team members gave up their time, negotiating busy lives and commitments to engage in the team meeting today. Even so, they still managed to find the time to come together in harmony and friendship to make some fundamental decisions as to the running of your group. So lets get started.
A New Home For TES
We have managed to secure a beautiful space at Lloyd Hall in Outwood and due to the generous financial support of two of the team we’ll be hiring this venue for our sole use.
This move has also precipitated the need to change our evening practise evening from Thursdays to Tuesdays. The evenings will commence from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
With this in mind we would like to express our thanks to Heaven / Old Post for supporting TES for the past four/ five years and on Thursday April 16th we will say our fond farewells so please put this date in your diary.
Formation of TES Study Group
At the request of members of our community and with the generous donation of time and knowledge from Dhruvamati TES will soon be able to offer a study course on the Buddhist context.
If you would like to join this group then please contact a member of the team.
An initial proposal would be to meet weekly on Sunday evening for 1 and a half hours. Please let us have your thoughts.
Day Retreats 2015
Again this year we will offer the opportunity to practise together as a community on two day retreats the dates of which are to be confirmed. If you have a particular aspect of Dharma or meditation that you would like us to explore then please let one of members of the team know.
Community Retreat 2016
There will be, all being well, another TES community retreat in 2016.
Padmapriya proposed that we offer an urban retreat weekend. This would mean sleeping in our own homes but coming together on Friday night, Saturday all day and Sunday to practise/eat together. It was felt that this may offer a solution for some of the members of the community who have thus far found it difficult to come on retreat.
Paul has kindly offered to take on the retreat organiser role for 2016. Again your thoughts or any other suggestions on type / venue can, in the first instance, be directed to him.
“Fare thee well” Sooz
As many of your know Sooz will be leaving the shores of ‘Blightey’ and transporting herself to the mythical realm of Akashavana in the Spainish mountains for her ordination retreat. By way of a send off we attended a small gathering at The Curry Garden in Redhill. Her final day will be Thursday 9th April.
If you wish to support her in her final practise evening at Old Post please put this date in your diary.
We all wish her well for her onward journey.
