Padmapriya has been asked by the Buddhist Centre in Croydon to remove a pergola structure from the garden area and reduce it to manageable pieces to be transported to a suitable ‘resting place’. Whilst it is conceivable that one person could disassemble the structure it could make for a lovely opportunity for a community gathering.
‘There is something quite ‘real’ about the removal of a structure, mental or otherwise, that gives direct experience into the nature of impermanence’
If you are free on Monday 8th February 2016 why not come join us in what could be a ceremonial removal of a central structure that has stood and represented an aspect of the dharma for many years, sheltering spiritual seekers against the vagaries of weather and life. This event may very well symbolise the beginning of the new shrine project so is worthy of note.
‘Every act of creation begins with and act of destruction’
Your level of involvement is up to you. You can ‘be’ in the shrine room and watch this process reflectively, watch the light change, the perspective change, the emotions change! You can be part of team that at least somewhat mindfully does the work.
The day will start at 10:00am with meditation, ritual and an opportunity to express your gratitude and to celebrate its transformation an apt theme for the month in which Parinirvana occurs.
